Data Types 

Text – this allows text numbers and symbols, up to 150 characters

Memo – allows a long text in the data 

Number – this allows a whole number or a decimal number. Only numbers can be entered.

Currency – this automatically formats the data to have   £ or $ or Euro symbol in front on the data and also it can have 2 decimal places.  £8.56 or $ 234.99

Date/Time – this makes sure that you are putting in the right data and it actually exists in the data entry: 1-31 for day (28 or 30) and appropriate months) and 1-12 for months.  For example it would not allow 31.02.2012 to be entered. It also formats the data into long, medium or short data/time.

Auto number- this datatype will increase by 1 as records are added to the database for example 1:1

Yes/No – this data is only restricted to two options, yes/no , male /female
